Press Communiqué
The Constituent Assembly of the Moroccan Women World March was held on the International Day against Violence to Women on 25th November 2006 at the headquarters of the Amazigh Group. Representatives of Women and Human Right NGOs, Trade Unions, Political Parties and other NGOs debated and analysed the motivations behind this initiative which stresses the importance of our commitment to reinforce solidarity against poverty.
Debates also emphasised the importance of strengthening Feminine solidarity to promote Moroccan Women’s struggles and to allow for more involvement in all women’s fights worldwide against the devastating repercussions of neo-liberal globalisation and of imperialistic projects on women’s living conditions.
The Assembly discussed the new issues, priorities and organizational changes of WWM after the International meeting in Peru July 2006.
The Assembly adopted an annual action plan and the coordinating committee was co-opted on the basis of one representative for each NGO; the deputies will be appointed later by NGOs themselves.
The coordination of WWM in Morocco held its meeting on the same day and agreed on some management regulations namely a meeting agenda, elected the Secretariat and defined forthcoming tasks. The Secretariat includes a Coordinator, vice coordinator and 13 members in charge of missions.
